Dutch Consulate General Visits Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp
On March 6th, the American University of Kurdistan (Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp) welcomed the Dutch Consul General, Jaco Beerends, and the Second Secretary and Political Affairs Representative, Jelle Jochem Duits. The delegation from the Dutch Consulate in Erbil met with Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp’s President, Dr. Randall Rhodes, VP of Administration and Finance, Omed Zawity, and Director of Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp’s Center for Academic and Professional Advancement (CAPA), Loucine Hayes. Topics discussed included support for programs on start-up culture and entrepreneurship, youth employment, programming for IPDs and refugees, capacity building among public sector employees (including school teachers), and faculty and student exchanges with Dutch universities.
After the discussion, the Consul General toured Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp’s campus, including labs supported by the U.S. Department of State Grants, classrooms, library, and student social spaces. Consul General Beerends also engaged in conversations with Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp employees who are Dutch citizens.
There will be additional conversations in the months to come as both the Dutch Consulate and Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵapp work collaboratively for the benefit of the University community, its students, and the Kurdish people, as whole. As the University celebrates its 10th Anniversary, it reaffirms its dedication to fostering initiatives and international partnerships aiming to empower its faculty, staff, and students, and contribute to building a strong Kurdistan.
